Driving Test Preparation & Mock Tests in Burnley

Mock tests, test-route practice and your instructor's car on the big day.

The final stretch is about turning good driving into test-ready driving. We run mock tests under proper test conditions so you know what to expect, and give you honest feedback on exactly what to work on.

We practise on the types of roads and manoeuvres used on test, including independent driving, parking exercises and the show-me, tell-me questions.

You can use our dual-controlled car for your test, and your instructor will give you a warm-up lesson beforehand so you arrive calm and ready.

Where Burnley learners take their driving test

Most learners from Burnley take their practical test at the Nelson test centre on Commercial Road in Nelson, around three miles away. You choose your centre when you book on GOV.UK, so always check availability. We will happily advise on the best option for you.

The DVSA no longer publishes test routes, and examiners choose the route on the day, so there is no single route to memorise. What does help is being comfortable on a wide variety of local roads, including the junction types, speed limits and gradients common around Nelson and Burnley. That is exactly what we practise.

What a mock test involves

A mock test copies the real thing so you know how it feels, and you get a clear verbal and written debrief afterwards.

  • Eyesight check and show-me, tell-me questions
  • Around 20 minutes of independent driving
  • One manoeuvre (reverse bay, parallel park, or pull-up on the right)
  • Marking on the same standard as the real test

Test day with us

On the day you can take a warm-up lesson, then use our dual-controlled car for the test. Using a car you already know takes away a huge source of stress. We can also wait for you and talk through the result afterwards, pass or not.

Ideally when your instructor agrees you are close to test standard. Test availability varies, so we will advise on timing.

Where is the nearest test centre to Burnley?

Most learners from Burnley test at Nelson. Check the DVSA finder when you book for the up-to-date list of centres and availability.

Poor observation at junctions, not using mirrors, and problems with positioning and speed are among the most common faults. See our guide on common test faults.
