Before the test
Preparation matters more than luck:
- Do a mock test under test conditions
- Practise on roads around your test centre
- Learn the show me, tell me questions
- Get a good night's sleep and eat beforehand
- Have a warm-up lesson on test day
During the test
The examiner wants you to pass, so do not worry about making a small mistake. Keep these in mind:
- Check mirrors early and often
- Make clear observations at every junction
- Keep to the speed limit but do not drive too slowly
- If you make a mistake, forget it and carry on
- Ask the examiner to repeat anything you did not understand
Calm your nerves
Slow, deep breaths before you start. Remember that nerves are normal, and that an examiner can fail you only for serious or dangerous faults, or more than 15 minor ones.
